Dash of Courage: Be the Lighthouse

Radar picked up another vessel directly in its path.
The captain radioed ahead:
“This is the United States Navy. You are on a collision course. Change your heading 20 degrees north.”
A calm voice replied:
“Negative. I suggest you change your heading 20 degrees south.”
The captain, now furious, shouted:
“This is a U.S. Navy battleship! We are armed and accompanied by a full fleet. I demand you alter your course immediately.”
The voice came back steady and calm:
“Sir, this is a Lighthouse. Your call.”
Silence. The ship moved.
Oftentimes, life is about knowing what’s fixed and what’s flexible.
What’s Flexible:
• Your plans - they change, the destination rarely does.
• Your methods - the path may twist, but the mission remains
• Your timing - delay doesn’t mean denial
• Your ego - bend it before it breaks you
• Your approach - evolve, but never erase what matters most
The ship had power but no perspective. It moved only when wisdom spoke louder than pride.
Dash of Courage
This week, remember: not every loud voice deserves your reaction. Hold your ground on what matters.
Be the lighthouse, not the ship.
Because courage is not always about steering the ship, sometimes it’s standing your ground when the whole world tells you to move.
Courage over Comfort,
Garrett
