Dash of Courage: July 4th & Signature Moments
"Get in good trouble." - John Lewis
"Get in good trouble." - John Lewis
On July 4th, 1776, 56 men signed the Declaration of Independence.
America was formed. The world forever changed. And one signature stood above the rest: John Hancock.
He didn't just sign it - he owned it.
His name wasn't small, subtle, or safe.
It was bold, oversized, and unmistakable.
Legends says he signed it so big that "King George could read it without his glasses".
There was already a price on his head.
He knew the risk.
He signed it anyway.
Good Trouble.
Ole Hancock was one of the wealthiest men in the colonies.
He could've stayed quiet.
Played it safe.
Protected his fortune.
But instead, he used his influence to bankroll a revolution.
MERICA!
He didn’t just contribute - he committed.
And today, July 4th 2025, his name still means ownership.
“Put your John Hancock here.”
Because when you sign something boldly enough...the world remembers.

That's what Courage does.
It leaves a mark.
So whatever you're building, leading, or choosing
Don't tiptoe in.
Show up.
Sign big.
Own it.
Dash of Courage:
This week, don't wait for permission.
Say the thing
Start the thing
Ship the thing
Put your name on it - loud, proud, and in permanent ink.
John Hancock didn't just sign...he signed BIG
So Big the King couldn't miss it.
So Bold it became a metaphor for ownership.
So Brave it launched a nation we get to celebrate this week.
That's courage.
So whatever you've been holding back...
Do it Big. Do it Bold. Do it Brave.
Because the only mark that matters...
is the one you actually make.
Courage over Comfort,
Garrett
