Dash of Courage: Poems & Prayers

"Make song of the spoken word and music of the melody of life" - Matthew McConaughey

"Make song of the spoken word and music of the melody of life" - Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey has done it again.

When he 1st wrote "Greenlights" I thought it would be ok. It was Phenomenal.

Hands down, it was the best Audiobook I've ever listened to. In typical MM fashion, it was southern charm, grassroots appeal, and a gunslinger mentality to go for it in life.

Then he said something interesting. As "Greenlights" hit #1 on the NY Times Bestsellers list, he didn't want the cynicism from others to stop him from writing again. He speaks how he speaks. Writes how he writes. He wanted to keep going. Greenlight!

That approach to life, I appreciate.
Own your quirks and keep going. The world has enough copies of keys.
Walk your Walk and the right people will come along your path.

He just came out with a new book:
"Poems & Prayers."

My Mom taught me to pray each night when I was probably 5.
I haven't thought much about it...the words I say, the dreams I've had, the mistakes I've made, the forgiveness I seek, the faith I believe in.

If you ever struggle like I do, prayers work.
This may be a good one to hang on to.

Matthew McConaughey (Poems & Prayers)
"God, help me to
Trust myself enough to rely on others
Respect myself enough to honor others
Be generous enough with myself to serve others
Believe in myself enough to have faith in others
Love myself enough to care for others

Forgive myself enough to have compassion for others
Convict myself enough to judge others
Appreciate myself enough to thank others
Listen to myself enough to hear others
Know myself enough to learn from others

Miss myself enough to stay at home
Be secure enough to leave
and pray enough to know You.
Amen

Dash of Courage
Words are powerful. Especially the ones we say out loud or whisper in our times of need. Have the Courage to add another line to your life. For me, it's that line: Believe in myself enough to have faith in others.

What's yours?

Courage over Comfort,
Garrett
