I love a good story.
Netflix just released a movie called “The Wrong Paris." It’s about a reality show that promises contestants a trip to Paris.
The catch? It’s Paris, Texas.
The movie debuted #1 on Netflix. I had to see this place for myself
My wife’s birthday was this past weekend, and we already had a trip planned to Texas. I told her, “You’re going to love this idea.”
She did not.
My only hope was the romantic Eiffel Tower replica they built.
In the movie it looked amazing.
The Paris, France version stands over 1,000 feet tall.
The Paris, Texas version? 65 feet.
And on top, a bright red cowboy. Yeehaw.
Can’t win em all.
But here’s what I appreciate…
Paris, Texas didn’t try to out-invent Paris, France.
They didn’t build something taller, flashier, or more expensive.
They took something the world already recognized, and made it uniquely theirs.
You don’t always have to invent something brand new.
Sometimes you just need to find what works and make it your own.
We tend to glorify innovation — the next big idea, the total reinvention, the never before seen idea. But the truth is, courageous breakthroughs also come from customization.
From taking something proven and adding
your own twist,
your own voice,
your own red cowboy hat.
The best leaders don’t copy.
They customize.
They take the familiar and make it unforgettable.
Dash of Courage
Look around at what’s already working in your life, your business, your relationships. What’s something you could personalize, remix, or elevate
What’s your red cowboy hat?
Maybe it’s the way you start a meeting.
Maybe it’s how you write emails, greet clients, or close conversations.
Maybe it’s a small creative flourish that reminds people you were here.
Because courage isn’t always innovation.
It’s also customization.
Sometimes, standing out doesn’t require starting over.
It just needs a touch of bold color…and a cowboy hat on top. Giddyup!
Courage over Comfort,
Garrett
